Wakulla Springs is dealing high levels of nitrates. These high levels have created a problem foreign local plants and animals. There is also a cosmetic problem due to the over-growth of algae. Smith Sewage Processing Plant, Wastewater Sprayfields, Septic Tanks and Storm Water appear to be the major contributers to the Wakulla Springs issue.
